Maintaining market stability during the Lunar New Year is not only the responsibility of state management agencies but also underscores the role of retail systems and localities in implementing coordinated measures and proactively ensuring sufficient supply to meet Tet shopping demand.
Proactive supply preparation
At a Bach Hoa Xanh store in Phuoc Binh ward, Dong Nai province, preparations began early to ensure supply for the 2026 Lunar New Year market, with inventory levels higher than on regular days. At the same time, various promotional programs have been launched to help ease consumer spending during the holiday season.
Le Thi Lan Anh, a staff member at the Bach Hoa Xanh store in Phuoc Binh ward, said: “Our store has prepared a wide range of Tet gift sets in different designs, colors, and styles. Prices are clearly labeled on all products, enabling customers to easily select items that match their budgets. Most importantly, all products have clear origins and traceability, allowing customers to shop with confidence.”
Along with expanding supply, Anh Grocery Store in Phuoc Long ward has also placed strong emphasis on product quality and price transparency. According to the retailer, consumers are increasingly attentive to their rights. Whereas price and necessity were once the primary considerations, shoppers now place greater importance on quality, origin, and traceability. “We prepared Tet goods well in advance, prioritizing high-quality products supplied by reputable producers on the market. Product quality is our first criterion when sourcing goods, and prices are always clearly displayed so customers can shop with confidence,” said Nguyen Thi Anh, owner of Anh Grocery Store.
Not only large retailers but also smaller retail outlets increasingly recognize that in a competitive market, improving sales methods alone is not sufficient. Product quality and food safety must remain top priorities. Consumers’ preference for safe products contributes to a responsible market environment characterized by transparent production processes, safety standards, and accountability for public health.
“To ensure an effective supply–demand balance for goods serving residents during the 2026 Binh Ngo Lunar New Year, the Department of Industry and Trade has advised the provincial People’s Committee to issue a plan to secure the distribution of essential commodities. Relevant agencies are coordinating market supervision, while market management forces have stepped up inspections to support price stabilization. Regarding OCOP products, the Department of Agriculture and Environment is working with the Department of Industry and Trade to convene meetings with supermarket representatives and distributors to connect supply and demand and bring OCOP products into retail distribution networks.”
Abundant supply, transparent pricing
Across commercial centers, supplies for the 2026 Lunar New Year have been significantly increased. From decorative items to essential consumer goods, traders have proactively stocked a wide range of products with diverse categories and designs. At the same time, localities have strengthened supply–demand coordination and closely monitored market developments to ensure timely adjustments.
Nguyen Van Lam, Director of the Integrated Service Center of Binh Phuoc ward, said: “Plans to ensure supply for the 2026 Lunar New Year were developed early by the locality. At Dong Xoai Market, we have reorganized sales areas to better allocate goods, and the current supply is sufficient to meet residents’ needs.”
At Co.opmart Dong Xoai Supermarket, Tet-themed display areas have been expanded compared to regular days. Essential goods and Tet gift baskets are organized by price segment to cater to a wide range of consumer demand. Anticipating stronger purchasing power during the holiday, the supermarket prepared its inventory early to ensure supply and meet shopping demand. Notably, OCOP products have been given greater shelf space.
Nguyen Quoc Minh, Director of Co.opmart Dong Xoai Supermarket, affirmed: “In line with overall Co.opmart system policy, we prioritize local products. Bringing essential, high-quality goods to consumers is our mission. Co.opmart Dong Xoai Supermarket consistently puts product quality first in its operations.”
As living standards continue to rise, demand for products that meet safety and quality standards has become increasingly tangible among consumers. Many shoppers now look beyond price and convenience, paying greater attention to product quality, food safety, and environmental friendliness. In response, producers and business operators are increasingly aligning their offerings with consumer needs to build long-term trust.
Beyond ensuring adequate supply, retail systems have committed to maintaining price stability, strengthening quality control, and prioritizing domestic products, OCOP goods, and locally sourced agricultural produce. These efforts not only meet consumer demand but also help secure stable market outlets for local businesses and farmers. Alongside retails’ efforts, state management agencies have stepped up monitoring, inspection, and market supervision. In particular, a wide range of price-stabilization programs, promotions, and demand-stimulus initiatives have been rolled out, giving consumers greater access to quality goods at reasonable prices.
