(ĐN)- At the 15th meeting of the State Steering Committee for key national projects, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the urgent need to accelerate the construction of Long Thanh International Airport’s first phase. The Ministry of Transport and Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) were tasked to review and revise the project schedule, aiming for completion by the end of 2025.

Prime Minister has instructed relevant agencies to develop a revised plan to complete Long Thanh Airport by the end of 2025.

Prime Minister also requested timely reports on any difficulties to ensure the project stays on track. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha will oversee progress and coordinate with related agencies to meet the deadline.

Additionally, a 365-day intensive campaign will launch in January 2025 to mobilize efforts for the airport’s timely completion, marking an important milestone ahead of the 14th National Party Congress.

Currently, two out of four subprojects, including air traffic management facilities and essential airport infrastructure, are progressing well. However, to accelerate the passenger terminal construction, contractors have requested an additional VND 1.8 trillion to increase equipment and workforce, leading to schedule adjustments.

Despite challenges, all parties remain committed to delivering Long Thanh Airport earlier than the initially planned September 2026 deadline.
