(ĐN)- Dong Nai ranks among the top five provinces nationwide in the highest electricity consumption. As demand is expected to surge with the upcoming operation of Long Thanh International Airport and new industrial zones and urban areas, the power sector has allocated approximately VND 15 trillion to implement various power generation and grid projects in 2025.

According to the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC), 13 power source and transmission projects from 110kV to 500kV are being carried out by EVN and its affiliates in Dong Nai this year. Two projects have been completed, six are under construction, and the rest are preparing for groundbreaking. Dong Nai Power Company (PC Dong Nai) also plans to invest in 11 new 110kV power projects, upgrade transformer stations, and expand the 22kV grid to reduce overloads and energy losses.

In addition, Nhon Trach 3 and 4 thermal power plants are scheduled to commence commercial operations in August and November this year, respectively, adding approximately 9 billion kWh per year to the national power grid.

EVN has also proposed a 1,000 MW floating solar power project on Tri An Lake, the largest solar project ever in the province. Meanwhile, the Tri An Hydropower Plant expansion project, with a capacity of 200MW and a total investment of over VND 3.9 trillion, is expected to break ground in May 2025.

Provincial leaders have pledged to support the power sector in addressing issues related to investment procedures, site clearance, and regulatory adjustments to ensure timely completion of projects. These developments aim to secure a stable power supply for economic growth, airport and seaport operations, and the formation of new industrial parks and urban areas through 2030.
