(DN)- On February 5, the Nhon Trach 3 Power Plant in Nhon Trach district was successfully synchronized and began supplying electricity to the national grid for the first time, initially generating 50MW.

Nhon Trach 3 and Nhon Trach 4 power plants, the first in Vietnam to utilize liquefied natural gas (LNG), have reached nearly 96% completion. With a total capacity of 1,500-1,600MW and an investment of $1.4 billion, these projects were approved by the Prime Minister, reviewed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and developed by PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power).

Once fully operational, the plants are expected to contribute approximately 9 billion kWh annually to the national power system, enhancing energy security, supporting Vietnam’s Net Zero commitments, and driving LNG power development under Power Plan VIII.

For Dong Nai—Vietnam’s fourth-largest electricity-consuming province—the project will not only strengthen local energy security but also generate thousands of billions of VND in annual revenue, create jobs, and stimulate economic activity in related service sectors.
