(ĐN)- Japan is a major investor in Vietnam and Dong Nai, with many Japanese companies operating advanced technology projects that increasingly require local components and supporting products. This creates a valuable chance for Vietnamese businesses to tap into.

Recently, the Dong Nai People’s Committee collaborated with the Kansai Economic, Trade and Industry Office (METI-Kansai) to hold the 2024 Vietnam-Japan Business Connection Conference, helping firms from both countries explore cooperation opportunities.

Vietnamese suppliers aim to expand their product supply, particularly to Japanese-invested factories in industrial zones. For example, Quyet Thang Trading and Production Company (Bien Hoa city) specializes in producing vibratory funnels and automatic feeding systems. Director Ngo Thanh Binh stressed their focus on innovation and meeting local demand, noting their products are cost-competitive compared to imports.

Similarly, Kim Vinh Thang Company recently invested in new factory facilities to boost productivity and quality of cast iron and steel products, actively seeking partnerships with Japanese companies. Joint venture enterprises, like Chien You Vietnam (Bien Hoa 2 Industrial Park), also aim to deepen ties by offering specialized products such as semi-trailers and hot-dip galvanizing services.

To date, Dong Nai hosts nearly 1,700 foreign-invested projects from 46 countries, with Japan ranking second by project count (280 projects) and third by investment capital (over 5.27 billion USD).

The province and Japanese partners cooperate closely in workforce development and industrial support, exemplified by the Kansai Desk initiative and coordinated programs connecting Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises. Since the first economic cooperation agreement in 2013, renewed most recently in September 2024, joint efforts focus on supporting industries, training, environmental cooperation, and energy efficiency.

At the recent Vietnam-Japan business event on November 14, Deputy Chairman Nguyen Son Hung emphasized the importance of such activities in helping firms identify suitable partners and fostering long-term cooperation for mutual growth. The Dong Nai government commits to facilitating ongoing collaboration for the prosperity of both sides.

From Japan, Nakagawa Mai, Director of International Business at METI-Kansai, highlighted Vietnam’s appeal as a growing market and regional supply chain hub, expressing a strong desire to further support bilateral business connections and regular trade events that open doors for fruitful cooperation.
