This is the fourth hike in four consecutive months in 2021, with a total hike of VND58,500 per 12-kilogram cylinder.
The retail price of a 12kg cooking gas cylinder now ranges between VND419,000 and VND442,000. The price hike was attributed to a rise in the global gas price, which is USD665 per tonne now, a surge of USD7.5 per tonne from the previous month.
Currently, 60 percent of the total gas consumption in the country has to be imported, making local gas prices be adjusted following global gas prices.
