The Government has allocated around VND17.06 trillion to the province to clear 5,000 hectares of land. According to an announcement of the Government Office, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc noted that compensation for site clearance is moving slower than expected.

Over a week ago, the province approved a plan to compensate local residents who will have to move to make room for the project. They will be paid VND1.39-6.57 million per square meter for rural land, depending on location, and VND161,000-360,000 per square meter for agricultural land. The residents will receive their compensation payments in May 2020.

The province broke ground for the 282-hectare Loc An-Binh Son resettlement area for the affected people on April 20 and expects to finish land clearance for the first phase of the airport project late this year.

Regarding the province’s proposal to build a smart urban area, the Government has asked the province to work with the Ministry of Construction to draw up a detailed plan that ensures the smart urban area’s connection with the existing infrastructure and the Long Thanh International Airport, contributing to the province’s sustainable development.

For transport projects connecting the airport with surrounding areas, including three roads and two railways, the Government has assigned the province to coordinate with the relevant ministries to create detailed solutions for each project. So far, only the HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway has been finished, while the other projects are still waiting for investment.
