(ĐN)- Prices of coffee, cashew nut and pepper saw sharp decreases in August due to strong increase in quantity.

Particularly, the current domestic buying price for black peppers is VND48,000 - 49,000 per kilo, the lowest prices in years.

In August, the average export price was US$3,376 per tonne for pepper, US$1,774 per ton for coffee and US$8,636 per tonne for cashew nuts. Compared to the same period last month, these export prices dropped by 35%, 18% and 14.5%, respectively.

The reason for such declines is considered to have been the fall in world demand, while supply rose steeply.
