The directions were given by the Deputy PM on March 18 during his working session with the Dong Nai leadership on the province’s socio-economic development.

Deputy PM Binh urged Dong Nai to be more assertive in the fight against smuggling and trade fraud as well as step up its efforts to crack down on drug-related crimes and traffic law violations.

According to an official report, Dong Nai province met 23 out of 24 socio-economic development targets in 2016, with the local economy continuing to see strong growth and exports reaching over US$15.2 billion.

Dong Nai has 35 industrial parks, of which 30 have already been put into operation, attracting US$25 billion in more than 1,200 foreign-invested projects.

Despite such positive results, the province is still faced with a number of issues such as a shortage of funds for infrastructure development, rampant violations in trade, food safety and the environment.

At the working session, Deputy PM Binh asked relevant ministries and agencies to take note of Dong Nai’s requests and introduce appropriate measures to facilitate the province’s socio-economic development.
