(ĐN)- Shrimp farmers in Tan Phu district’s Tra Co commune are earning high productivity and profit from raising giant freshwater shrimp under VietGAP standards.

The prices of giant freshwater shrimp are being purchased at VND150,000-170,000 per kg at the ponds, VND5,000 per kg higher than the same period last year.

The commune is now home to more than 40 hectares of giant freshwater shrimp. Of which, nearly 27 hectares have been farming under VietGAP standards. This is the traditional aquaculture cultivation model in the locality which can achieve high economic growth.

However, giant freshwater shrimp products are mainly purchased by traders and mainly consumed in HCM city. The district is calling investors to build linkage chain as well as purchase and consume the specialty product for local farmers.
