(ĐN)- On August 2, Trong Duc Cocoa Co., Ltd in Dinh Quan district and HCM city-based Atlantic Commodities Vietnam Ltd (ACOM) signed cooperation agreement to set up Cocoa Development Center, locating in the district’s Phu Hoa commune.
Accordingly, the total investment of the center in the initial three years will be around US$160,000, funded by Trong Duc Cocoa and ACOM, including facilities; documents, equipment and training courses; fees for experts, technicians; arboretum; etc.
The center aims to establish key skilled cocoa farmers in the province and the neighboring localities and thence transfer, provide guidance to households and those who want to grow cocoa trees in the region. In addition, the farmers will become a service point to collect fresh cocoa; process, ferment cocoa or distribute seedlings; etc.
The project also helps increase cocoa productivity, quality under international standards as well as increase income, contributing to develop land area under cocoa cultivation and cocoa output in sustainable way.
ACOM, a member of Switzerland’s ECOM Group, was founded in 2002. ACOM focuses on the processing and exporting of coffee, cocoa and cotton. ECOM has set up many cocoa development centers in Mexico, Ivory Coast, Indonesia, etc.
