(ĐN)- Most of Dong Nai’s agricultural products for export decreased in value in the first five months of this year.

In Jan-May, Dong Nai’s enterprises exported nearly 147,600 tones of coffee, earning US$238.2 million. The figures saw an increase of more than 62 percent in volume, but a slight increase of 28.4 percent in value over the same period last year.

Although seeing an increase of almost 17 percent in volume, the rubber industry reflected a year on year decrease of 1 percent in value, earning US$13.5 million.

Meanwhile, the average export price of the province’s pepper in the first five months saw a year-on-year decrease of 7 percent to US$8,400 per tonne.

Presently, local agricultural export is also facing difficulties as from 2015 when Vietnam began to enter more deeply in new, highly competitive markets through existing and under-negotiation free trade agreements (FTAs).

Many members of these FTAS have a developed agricultural sector such as Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, China and India which put Vietnam in general and Dong Nai in particular at a disadvantage.
