Dong Nai leads nation in FDI attraction

(ĐN)- Dong Nai attracted US$585 million worth of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first quarter of the year, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment's Foreign Investment Agency.

The recorded value accounted for 14.5 percent of the total FDI registered in the country, which pushed Dong Nai as the top performer in terms of FDI attraction. It was followed by Bac Ninh province (US$398 million, or 9.8 percent) and Binh Duong (US$371 million, or 9.2 percent)

In Jan-March period, 26 new foreign-invested projects were licensed while 34 operating ones were allowed to increase capital in Dong Nai.

During the reviewed period, the manufacturing and processing sector attracted the largest share of FDI, with US$2.9 billion, or 72.2 percent of the country's total registered FDI.

The Republic of Korea was Viet Nam’s leading source of FDI in Jan-March with some US$900 million.
