(ĐN)- A mid-term conference of the eighth Dong Nai provincial Farmers Association Congress the term 2013-2018 was held on March 22. The event was attended by Deputy Secretary Phan Thi My Thanh of the provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman Vo Van Chanh of People’s Committee and more than 200 representatives from farmers associations at all levels.
According to the report, the association is now home to 208,755 members and 158 agencies. In the reviewed period, the association and its grassroots agencies have made reasonable efforts to help their members and other farmers improve living standards.
Particularly, the association provided over VND13 billion to around 1,300 farmers, mobilized capital from its rich members to help more than 13,500 poor members develop production and escape poverty. Over the past time, the association raised more than VND500 billion and over 300,000 sq.m of land to build rural traffic roads. In the period, more than 80,000 households have been recognized as "good farmers in production and business"
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Secretary Phan Thi My Thanh highly appreciated efforts made by the association over the past three years and hoped that the association will continue to take necessary measures to fulfill their tasks in next time.
