Dong Nai' key export products make big gains

Export turnover for the southern province of Dong Nai in 2016 is likely to enjoy a boost of 10% compared to 2015, according to the Provincial Department of Industry and Trade.

Accordingly, the province’s export and import turnovers to ASEAN countries hit US$1.5 billion and US$600 million, respectively, with main commodities being textiles, footwear, computers, electronics, wood and wooden products.

The US was the leading market for Dong Nai’s exporters in 2015, with a total goods value shipped to the country reaching over US$4 billion, while the import turnover from the country was only US$1 billion.

It was followed by Japan, with nearly US$1.3 billion in export turnover, and US$700 million in import value.

Exports to ASEAN countries was the second biggest market for Dong Nai’s firms in the period, ahead of Japan, with local companies shipping their products to six of ten member nations of the group, including Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia.

The province’s export and import turnovers to ASEAN countries hit US$1.5 billion and US$600 million, respectively, with main commodities being textiles, footwear, computers, electronics, wood and wooden products.

Presently, the province is now listed among the five largest footwear exporters in the country, many footwear enterprises have received enough orders to keep them busy until the first quarter of this year. Some large businesses have even received orders for 2017.

The textile and garment sector is also estimated to enjoy high growth this year, as so far, many firms have won orders till the second quarter of 2016.

2015 was a good year for timber exports with total export earnings hitting over US$1.12, a 20%  rise compared with the same time last year.

Three largest export markets of the province’s wooden products were the US, Japan, and the Republic of Korea.
