Vietnam Economic News spoke with Osamu Sudo, Senior Marketing and Sales Manager, Amata (Vietnam) Joint Stock Company, about the company’s success story and their long-term commitment in Dong Nai Province.
What is your assessment of the business climate in Dong Nai after 20 years of investment here?
As an industrial estate developer, we focus on strategic investment location. Dong Nai has a lot of advantages that meet our business vision. The province has convenient location that is connected directly to Ho Chi Minh City, and the infrastructure is developing. This is very helpful for logistics and shipping services. Besides, local high-qualified human resources meet foreign investor’s demand.
Moreover, the local policy has strongly supported foreign investors encouraging Amata to invest more in Dong Nai. We have foreseen the potential and opportunities in Dong Nai that have attracted us to do business in this province. And we are happy to have stayed here for 20 years.
What are Amata’s major achievements after two decades of operations in Dong Nai?
We will celebrate the 20th anniversary of our presence in the country this December. Amata has become a well-known brand in Dong Nai and in Vietnam in general. We are one of the biggest private IP and commercial developers here. There are 145 manufacturers in our IP.
Our IP is the top choice for new facilities in Vietnam, especially those that need easy access to shipping, reliable power and water supply, and a high quality environment. The total planned area for our current IP is 700ha, of which the initial phase of 550ha has been completed and fully leased. The company is developing the final phase and has already welcomed investors.
Could you tell about Amata’s strategic plan on expansion in the province in the years to come?
Amata has been preparing for new projects in Long Thanh that is our long-term strategic development in Dong Nai. We has already received the investment certificate for the new IP and Service Township projects on a total area of 610ha, and under preparation for the Mega Township project on 750 hectares. The location for new projects is along the new highway connecting Vung Tau with Ho Chi Minh City, and is just 10km from Long Thanh International Airport. For the first phase, we will develop 410ha of the IP next year. It is expected to operate in 2017. For the second phase, we will develop the Service Township for the residential purpose and the Mega Township for commercial purposes including residential facilities, a shopping mall, a sport complex, a hospital, an education facility and offices.
We expect that more environment-friendly companies and high-tech industry investors will join our new IP project. With Amata’s new ambitious projects, we hope to attract more FDI in Dong Nai province and create more jobs to contribute to the development of Long Thanh.
What are Amata’s CSR activities to contribute to social development in the province?
Currently, we are building a public park for nearby people. We also donate local schools each year including giving free books to students. In doing so, we expect to contribute to social development in the province
The Amata (Vietnam) Joint Stock Company was established in December 1994 as a joint venture between Thailand’s Amata Corporation Public Company Limited and Vietnam’s Sonadezi Bien Hoa (a state-owned developer of industrial estates in Dong Nai Province). As a successful investor in Dong Nai, the Amata City Bien Hoa Industrial Park (IP) is one of the most modern and best-equipped industrial estates in Vietnam. |
