EU pours US$21 bln in VN

As many as 23 nations in the European Union have poured US$21 billion in 1,688 projects in Viet Nam, according to the Foreign Investment Agency, under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

As many as 23 nations in the European Union have poured US$21 billion in 1,688 projects in Viet Nam, according to the Foreign Investment Agency, under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

The average investment per project reached US$12.6 million, higher than the investment from other partners.

Five nations listed among the largest investors in Viet Nam include the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, France, Luxembourg and Germany.

Investment from these five nations made up 82% of the total investment from the EU in Viet Nam. 

These investments mainly focus on cities and provinces with large economic centers and well-prepared infrastructure such as Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong Province, Dong Nai Province, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, Da Nang City and Hai Phong City.

Among the manufacturing and processing, electricity and real estate sectors, manufacturing and processing took the lead with 573 projects, worth US$6.29 billion, accounting for 32%.
