There are total of 15,000 people to be relocated from the project area. The land area of households and individuals amounts to 1,970 ha, accounting for 59 per cent of the total land recovered for the airport. The land area of transportation, rivers and streams is over 106 ha and the headquarters of companies and organizations and religious buildings total 1,923 ha.
Located in Long Thanh district in Dong Nai province, the airport will cover a total area of 5,000 ha, of which the area for infrastructure is 2,750 ha, defense 1,050 ha, and other facilities 1,200 ha.
Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) recently received official approval from Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung to be the investor of the airport.
With total investment capital estimated at $16.03 billion, the project will use modern technology in its development, management and operations, similar to advanced international airports around the world, to ensure safety, convenience, quality, and efficiency.
