To promote investment attraction in industrial zones, Dong Nai has actively overcome difficulties for enterprises and the province has achieved positive results.
In September 2014, the Dong Nai Industrial Zone Authority (DIZA) granted investment certificates to two domestic projects and four foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with total registered capital of VND70 billion and US$131.6 million, respectively. The authority also implemented the adjustment of investment certificates for 35 FDI projects, including adding US$30.4 million in capital to five FDI projects. In addition, business and production activities of FDI enterprises recorded good growth. As a result, over the first nine months of this year, the province’s industrial zones attracted about US$1.1 billion and more than VND3.772 trillion in total investment capital, equal to 119.4 percent and 188.6 percent compared to the yearly plan, respectively.
About 40 countries and territories have invested in the province with a total 1,327 projects and more than 1,000 businesses have been put into operation, creating jobs for more than 440,000 people. On average, the province’s industrial zones create more 20,000 jobs each year. In terms of labor structure, female workers and migrant workers currently account for 61 and 60 percent of the workforce total respectively. Regarding professional skills, graduates and technicians have accounted for 8 and 33 percent, while unskilled workers have accounted for 59 percent.
In order to implement measures to encourage the construction of houses for workers, the provincial People’s Committee selected 10 hectares in the An Phuoc Residential Area to build housing for workers. DIZA Deputy Head Cao Tien Sy said that the authority had supported investors in building houses for workers. The authority has given priority to the Taekwang Group in kicking off the construction of a kindergarten for about 500 children and establishing consulting rooms for periodic health examination in industrial zones.
Environmental protection has also seen major improvements with special attention in local industrial zones. Among the 31 established industrial zones, 28 have been put into operation or are building wastewater treatment plants with total capacity of 119,500cu.m per day.
