(ĐN)- According to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, pepper turnover in 2012 reached more than 14,000 tonnes, a year-on-year increase of nearly 800 tonnes.
In 2012, the pepper price was from VND120,000-VND140,000 per kilogram. With this price, farmers could get the profit of VND200-400 million per hectare.
The pepper price is estimated to remain at high rate in 2013 due to the limited supply of pepper that's caused by the severe weather conditions in many countries.
Presently, the pepper price in Dong Nai hit more than VND130,000 per kilogram. The province is now ranked third in the country in the area under pepper cultivation. In the harvest year 2011-2012, local farmers sold over 13,3000 tons of pepper.
