Dong Nai province recently boosted trade and economic exchanges with foreign partners based on mutual trust, cooperation and development. The province has grasped the opportunities presented to attract investment and developed a more attractive image for investors.
Toshizo Ido, the Governor of Hyogo Prefecture, Japan
He was deeply impressed by the local authorities as they took the initiative in attracting investors and hoped he and the authorities would act as a bridge for multifaceted cooperation of Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises. So far, there have been over 140 Japan-invested projects with a total capital of US$2.8 billion.
Le Quoc Thinh, the Consul-General of Vietnam in Osaka
There are millions of enterprises in Japan, of those more than 300,000 are located in Osaka. Apart from global corporations, a large number of Japanese enterprises are small and medium-sized ones but they operate in high tech or brain-intensive industries. Since 2011 due to the affects from natural disasters, many Japanese enterprises have tended to undertake investment abroad, and Dong Nai Province and Vietnam in general is one of their priorities.
Oh Jae Hack, the Consul-General of the Republic of Korea (RoK) in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC)
Dong Nai Province was twinned with Gyeongnam Province (RoK) on May, 13, 1996. Since then, the two provinces have been boosting cooperation in various areas. International cooperation of the local authority is a very useful solution to adopt administrative policies through the success and failure of foreign authorities. After Hanoi and HCMC, the authority of Dong Nai is the third to be twined with those authorities of the RoK. It proves the positive and pioneer role of Dong Nai authority.
Douglas Barnes, the Consul-General of the United Kingdom (UK) in HCMC
The UK has undertaken nine projects in Dong Nai Province with a registered capital of over US$1.2 billion, making a good contribution to the local socioeconomic development. Vietnam is regarded as an important strategic partner with the UK. We will try to act as a bridge between British investors and Vietnamese enterprises, helping to further promote the cooperation of two countries in a wide range of areas.
Takanori - the General Director of Fujitsu
At present, we are focusing on two main sectors: assembling accessories for cell phones, computers and televisions and making printed-circuit boards. There are two things about Dong Nai Province that I highly appreciate, which are a skillful, creative workforce and good support from the local authority. However, in the coming time, the province should concentrate on developing support industries as we do not have partners who can provide domestically-made materials for some phases in our production processs. So far 100 percent of the materials we need are imported and this remains a difficulty for both sides.
Chang Bok Sang, the Chairman and General Director of CJ Group (RoK)
At the moment, CJ Group is planning to invest in some areas in the province like cinema and entertainment programs, foodstuff processing, warehousing and goods transportation. These are areas that CJ Group has big advantages and already had successful investment in the RoK and other Asian countries. The Group also wants to coordinate with local State-owned enterprises to carry out investment projects.
Hong Pyong Gyu, the General Director of Lotte Vietnam Co. Ltd
Lotte Vietnam highly appreciates the potential of the retail market in Dong Nai Province. Also, the company is paying attention to other areas that Dong Nai has big advantages such as entertainment, residential areas and foodstuff. We will conduct surveys to make a firm foundation for multifaceted investment projects of Lotte Vietnam in the province.
