(ĐN)- The area under rubber cultivation in Dong Nai province was expanded further to about 700 hectares to more than 8,100 hectares in 2011, according the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Over 5,000 hectares out of a total of 8,100 hectares are under harvest, turning out some 1.5 tons of latex per hectare per year on average.
Rubber trees are grown mainly in the four districts of Xuan Loc, Cam My, Long Thanh and Vinh Cuu. Famers in the province have expanded the area under rubber cultivation due to the high price of rubber latex in the global market in recent years.
