(ĐN)- As many as 650 ha of the summer-autumn rice crop in Dong Nai province have been affected by yellow snails, an increase of nearly 250 hectares when compared to the middle of May 2011, reported the Provincial Plant Protection Department. The excessive rain in recent months has created conditions conducive to the flourishing of yellow snails. The four hardest hit districts were Vinh Cuu, Long Thanh, Xuan Loc and Trang Bom.

As known, over 21,000 hectares of rice have been planted for the summer-autumn crop 2011 in Dong Nai province. The Provincial Plant Protection Department called on local farmers to kill yellow snails to prevent the spread of the pest.
