Farmer nets VND 200 million in profit annually from growing vegetables

(ĐN)- According to members of Truong An Vegetable Cooperative, they make an annual profit of about VND200 million per hectare by growing vegetables.

(ĐN)- According to members of Truong An Vegetable Cooperative, they make an annual profit of about VND200 million per hectare by growing vegetables. The cooperative now has 18 members who grow vegetables in an area of nearly 15 hectares. Half of the total area of vegetable production in the cooperative is installed with an automatic irrigation system and vegetables are grown in net houses.

The cooperative produces nearly 140 tonnes of leafy vegetables for the market every month and some 20 tons out of the 140 tonnes of vegetables are delivered to supermarkets in Ho Chi Minh city and Dong Nai province.

The cooperative is applying good agriculture practices under the national standards for growing vegetables. It expects to receive the Vietnamese Good Agricultural Practice (VietGAP) certificate by late 2011.
