(ĐN)– Under the chairmanship of Ao Van Thinh, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee, a meeting was held on Tuesday in Dong Nai to review the implementation of the project of Livestock Competitiveness and Food Safety (LIFSAP) in 2010 and outline the 2011 tasks.

Dong Nai will receive grants totaling more than US$6.4 million to deploy this project in the 2010-2015 period. In 2010, the province implemented a survey program on breeding situation and selected localities will benefit from this project. In the coming years, the province will focus on investments in breeding infrastructure, breeding animals, animal feed and slaughter-houses, securing animal health and hygienic measures as well as controlling epidemic diseases.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman Ao Van Thinh said that the LIFSAP Project is lending initial support to Dong Nai to develop breeding programmes for improving disease resistance and the programme will be expanded across the province in the future.
The project will be implemented until 2015 with a total investment of over US$79 million, financed by the World Bank. Dong Nai is one of four provinces and cities nationwide selected to deploy this project.
