Despite the impact of the global economic recession, Dong Nai made its best efforts to successfully perform tasks of socio-economic development in 2010.

The year 2010 finished with the impressive numbers of industrial production value and export turnover.

Industrial production recorded nearly VND109 tril

Dong Nai achieved an industrial production value of approximately VND109 trillion in 2010, exceeding 5.3 percent of the yearly target

Construction materials made a heavy contribution to the growth.

Up to 8 out of 9 key industries enjoyed high growth rates, including textile-garments-footwear, food and agricultural product processing, paper industry, mechanics, etc.

Agro-forestry and fishery sector reached VND7,792 billion

The province’s agriculture - forestry - fishery sector reached production value of VND7,792 billion last year, making up 99.1 percent of the year plan. 

VND57,264 bil worth of retail sales

Dong Nai’s total retail sales revenue of commodities and services in 2010 reached more than VND57 trillion, implementing 100 percent of the year’s target

The non-state sector registered the highest retail sales growth among other economic sectors. It saw a revenue increase of nearly 28 percent year-on-year; the sales of the foreign-owned sector rose by more than 19 percent; the State-owned sector grew at approximately 19 percent.

The hotel and restaurant sector saw a rise of 27.8 percent. The increased figures for the service and tourism sectors were 26.3 per cent and 24.1 per cent, respectively.

US$7.1 bil was export turnover

Dong Nai reported an export turnover of US$7.1 billion in 2010, up 0.9 percent of set target.

Some export commodities posted impressive year-on-year growth in 2010, including coffee (15%), honey (27%), footwear (10.5%), refined wooden products (13%) and garment (8%).

US$1.54 bil and VND52 tril poured into Dong Nai

Dong Nai in 2010 attracted approximately US$1.54 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) and VND52 tril in domestic investment, including the newly registered funds and extra capital from operational projects, fulfilling 100 percent and 200 percent of the year’s target, respectively.

Dong Nai is currently home to some 980 licensed FDI projects with a total registered capital of US$18.7 billion and 251 valid domestic projects with a combined capital of more than VND135.6 tril, or over US$7 billion.

89,240 laborers get jobs

Dong Nai solved jobs for 89,240 laborers in 2010, reduced the rate of poor households to under 4 percent. Besides, the province provided vocational training to more than 61,000 laborers, raising the number of skilled workers to 42 percent.
