(ĐN)- Cashew nut price in the domestic market has reached an unprecedented peak. The raw cashew nuts fetch a price of VND 30,000-32,000 per kilo in the internal market, up from VND 15,000 to VND17,000 when compared to the beginning of the year.

The raw cashew nuts fetch a price of VND 30,000-32,000 per kilo in the internal market, up from VND 15,000 to VND17,000 when compared to the beginning of the year. These prices guaranteed great profit for cashew growers, but the number of households in Dong Nai province having cashew nuts for sale is not much. Most of cashew growers in the province have sold out their products after harvesting.
Dong Nai currently has more than 51,000 hectares of cashew trees, of which, nearly 48,000 hectares are under harvest, with an annual average yield of 1 tonne per ha .
According to the Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas), the Vietnamese cashew processing industry accounts for about 700,000-800,000 tonnes per year. Presently, the domestic production caters to about 50 per cent of the raw cashew nut requirement by the cashew processing industry so it is necessary to import raw cashews to make up the shortfall.
