(ĐN)- The rice price in Dong Nai province presently stays about VND 6,000 a kilogram, up nearly VND1,000 compared with the middle of March. Local farmers get the benefit of soaring rice price because they are harvesting their winter-spring rice crop. With the current rice price, local farmers can get a profit of VND 16 million –VND 20 million every hectare of rice cultivation after the production cost is deducted.
Dong Nai’s farmers planted over 14,000 hectares of rice in this winter-spring crop, reached average yield of around 5.6 tones per hectare. Especially, some farmers in two districts of Cam My and Tan Phu have succeeded in growing the cross-bred rice variety after adoption of three production practices. They are getting the yield ranging from 6.5 tones to 7 tonnes per hectare and can earn a profit of almost VND 30 million per hectare.
