(ĐN)- There are about 1,070 pig farms in Dong Nai province with over 500,000 heads of pig, accounting for nearly 50 per cent of total pig population in the province. The farms are mainly located in districts of Thong Nhat, Trang Bom, Long Thanh and Long Khanh town.

The province plans to increase the number of pigs to 1.2 million in 2010, over 100,000 heads of pig higher than last years figure. Besides, the provincial government also encourages to develop large-scale breeding establishments. Presently, the animal husbandry accounts for over 27 per cent of the total agricultural production value in Dong Nai.
