(ĐN)- Despite economic slowdown, industrial production in the province during the first nine months of the year was estimated to increase 8.1 percent over the same period last year, reaching 60,723 billion VND, according to the Department of Industry and Trade.

With a 9.4 percent growth rate, foreign-invested firms made the largest contribution to the province’s industrial production increase, private firms followed with a growth rate of 8.7 percent. Industrial production by central and local State-owned firms, meanwhile, increased by 4.2 and 0.8 percent, respectively.

Products registering substantial year-on-year value increases in the January-September period include textile and garments, footwear, wood products, rubber and chemical.

Besides the efforts made by industrial firms to speed up investment and seek out the consumer market, the department also attributed industrial sector achievements to the positive impacts from a series of government policies and measures to curb the economic recession.

Dong Nai is expected to reach a year-on-year growth rate of 10.2% in industrial production to VND 84,699 billion in 2009, fulfilling 100.9% of the year’s plan.
