(ĐN)- A customer conference was held by La Nga Sugarcane and Sugar J.S Company on November 4 to inform the sugarcane growers about the company’s strategies for purchasing and developing raw materials zones in the period of 2008-2009.
In the period of 2007-2008, the company had to face many difficulties because of unfavourable weather conditions, high agricultural raw material prices and shortage of workers. Therefore, it only purchased around 236,700 tonnes of sugar-cane, a decrease of nearly 60,000 tonnes compared to the previous year, and produced 23,900 tonnes of sugar.
La Nga Sugar Co. is expected to process a total of about 246,000 tones of sugar-cane this years. Accordingly, the company has been making efforts to prepare raw materials for production. Until now, it has invested nearly VND50 billion to develop sugarcane raw material zones, supply capital and sugarcane cuttings, and transfer farming techniques to the farmers.
