(ĐN)- In the first four months of the year, the Dong Nai Foods Import and Export Company (Donafoods) exported 2,000 tons of cashew nuts worth more than US$ 9 million, an increase of about 10 percent over the same period last year.

Although facing the inflation challenge, Donafoods has invested in new machines which enabled the company to lower the production cost and expand production. As a result, the monthly average salary of a worker amounts VND 2.2 million compared to VND 1.8 million in 2007.

The company suffers from lack of capital. It is in need of more capital (about VND 500 billion) for purchasing materials to meet full year production. The company’s lack of capital is attributed to its difficulties in borrowing loans from banks. Current commercial banks’ lending to the company only meets half of the need.
