Among 16 road and port projects in the southern region, more than a half involve
Dong Nai Province. First of them is the HCM City-Nhon Trach expressway, including the construction linking HCM City’s Dist.9 and Dong Nai’s Nhon Trach Dist. Previously, the project was managed by the My Thuan Authority under the Ministry of Transport and Communication, but it is now transferred to the province’s Government which will call for investment. Nguyen Van Vy, deputy director of the province’s Department of Transport and Communication, said that when established in 2004, its capital was expectedly some VND6,000 billion (US$387 million); however, the amount is now higher due to soaring prices of material and labor. The province is expected to find suitable investors in the first half of this year to carry out the project.
Another one is the Dau Giay-Lien Khuong expressway linking Dong Nai and Lam Dong provinces. A joint venture of Daewoo, Byuksan and Hanwha signed a memorandum of understanding with the two provinces for the project. Besides, Bitexco Binh Minh is also making the investment plan for the project Dau Giay-Binh Thuan expressway to send to Dong Nai and Binh Thuan provinces.
