Electricity of Viet Nam (EVN) will establish Dong Nai hydroelectric JSC (DONAHJC) this month who will construct Dong Nai 3 and 4 Hydroelectric Plants.
DONAHJC will have a charter capital of VND2.7 trillion (US$169 million) and three major shareholders, EVN, Power Co No2, and HCM City Power Co. EVN decided to set up the joint stock company to enhance construction investment, exploitation and effective management.
DONAHJC will invest in power projects, a 110kV and 220kV power grid and station systems. They will also manage and maintain the transformers and power equipment; provide and assess invested construction projects. In the future, they plan to expand into commercial investment on real estate and rental properties.
Dong Nai 3 and 4 hydroelectric plants will have a total investment of VND13 trillion ($813 million) and a total capacity of 520MW when operational at the end of 2009. By 2010 they will supply the national grid an average of 1.7 billion kWh per year. The hydroelectric projects will also limit lowland floods, create a tourism landscape and develop aquaculture.
