Ho Nai Handicraft Cooperative was established in 2004 with initial chartered capital of VND1.8 billion. After three years of operation, the cooperative’s turnover reached VND3.7 billion last year; the figure is expected to increase by 25 percent per year.

Ho Nai Handicraft Cooperative specializes in producing and exporting woven products made of rattan, bamboo, and sedge, etc. Although facing many difficulties, the cooperative made all its efforts to secure a firm foothold in the market. Accordingly, Ho Nai cooperative’s members tried their best to develop new products with nice design and high quality to meet customer needs and expectations. Hence, its products have won the trust of customers, both home and abroad. Presently, Ho Nai cooperative is one of leading handicrafts exporters in the province, with 75 percent of its products exported to France, Germany, Holland, etc. During the past three years, the cooperative’s turnover has incessantly increased. In 2005, Ho Nai earned nearly VND3 billion in turnover; the figure reached approximately VND4 billion in 2006 and is expected to be VND5.5 billion this year. The cooperative has so far provided jobs for 150 local laborers with an average income of 1.5-1.8 million VND per month. Besides, to enhance its competitiveness, Ho Nai Handicraft Cooperative in the past time has invested more than VND1 billion to build factory and innovate technology.

 

In the coming time, the cooperative will establish joint ventures with other cooperatives and economic components in order to diversify of products and expand market. It is planning to employ more labors and raise its capital to further develop the full potential of the cooperative that serve in both the local and neighboring areas. Ho Nai cooperative strives to increase turnover by 20-25 percent and pre-tax profit by 30 percent in 2007.
