Dong Nai lures nearly $620 million of FDI in first half

In the first half of this year, Dong Nai province attracted a total foreign direct investment (FDI) capital of over $618.8 million, fulfilling 51.5 percent of the year plan, an increasing of 5 percent in project number and 46.12 percent in capital compared to same period last year.

Dong Nai province is so far home to 825 valid FDI projects by investors from 32 countries and territories around the world with a total registered capital of more than more than $9.581 billion, 95.61 percent of which are in industry, 2 percent in infrastructure, 1.71 percent in trade and services, and 0.62 percent in agriculture. Out of the total, 677 projects worth $8.369 billion located in industrial parks and 148 projects outside industrial zones with a combined capital of over $1.2 billion.

 

The Taiwan has had the greatest number of projects with 312 worth $3.554 billion, followed by Republic of Korea with 179 projects at $1.7 billion, Japan with 71 projects at $1.2 billion, Malaysia with 30 projects at $897 million, and Thailand with 27 projects at $602 million.

 

In the first half of this year, Dong Nai province attracted a total foreign direct investment (FDI) capital of over $618.8 million, fulfilling 51.5 percent of the year plan, an increasing of 5 percent in project number and 46.12 percent in capital compared to same period last year. Accordingly, the province licensed 62 new investments worth $326.4 million and allowed an additional 49 projects that are currently operational to pump an extra $292.4 million into their businesses. Over the past years, Dong Nai has sent its investment promotion delegations to Japan, Korea, Singapore, Australia, US and EU in order to attract more FDI to the province. The activities have also received attention of foreign investors; therefore Dong Nai believed that it will be able to achieve the target of attracting $1.2 billion in FDI this year.

 

In 2006, Dong Nai’s industrial parks attracted new foreign-invested projects worth $398.5 million. Meanwhile, operating projects had investment capital increased to $599 million. This showed that investors, who are doing business in Dong Nai, have confidence in the investment environment here and are willing to pour their investment capital into the province.
