Accordingly, Dong Nai province registered an industrial production value of VND9,719 billion in the first two months of 2007, a year on year rise of 26.5 percent and equivalent to 15.8 percent of the year’s target. Its export turnover estimated to reach US$720 million. In the past two months, 6 new projects were licensed and 16 operational projects were expanded with a total capital of nearly US$100 million. Agricultural production has also overcome difficulties in weather and natural calamity to develop stably; the drastic measures were carried out to prevent the foot and mouth disease and bird flu. For commerce and services, total retail turnover in past two months reached over VND4,000 billion; goods market was plentiful and diversified with a stable price. The province’s total budget collection earned over VND1,000 billion in the first two month of this year, fulfilling 11 percent of the years plan. In the field of tourism, Dong Nai attracted a large number of tourists in the past time; besides, many art performances and cultural activities were held to meet the entertainment demand of the local people. In the past two months, the province has provided jobs for more than 6,000 laborers, provided vocational training to over 2,600 people and loan programmes for 800 poor families.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Mot said that the agencies and local authorities should take measures to increase state budget collection, control the bird flu and reduce traffic accidents.
