The Taicera Ceramic Industries Co., Ltd., was established as a company with 100-percent Taiwanese capital under License 746/GP (January 11, 1994), granted by the State Committee for Cooperation and Investment. The Ministry of Planning and Investment has granted licence to Taicera to convert into joint-stock company. Taicera plans to issue shares to the public and to list its shares on the HCM City securities market later this year.
Taicera located in Go Dau Industrial Zone, Long Thanh district was founded with initial capital of US$ 19.5 million. Over the years, the company has expanded its operation to other parts of the country. Up to now, the company has a total investment capital of over US$66 million, and chartered capital of US$19.85 million. The products sold popular not only domestic market but also exported to Cambodia, Myanmar, Korea, Japan, Australia, India and Taiwan. Taicera’s export volume accounted for 61 per cent and 64 per cent of the total sales volume respectively in 2004 and 2005. The company also captured a new market opportunity in Italy in 2005. Taicera’s products are exported to 17 countries and territories around the world. Taicera’s products are sold at around 1.5 times higher price in foreign markets compared with in the domestic market. Consequently, the company stands to benefit and makes attractive profits in exports. Raymond Chen, general director of the company said that Taicera aims to be an Asean company with a global reach so it must ensure that the company’s product offerings meet Asean standards and are competitive with similar products in the regional markets.

During the past years, Taicera has invested in technology renovation in order to expand production and improve the quality of products to meet requirements of international and domestic clients. In 1997, Taicera was the first ceramic tile maker in Vietnam to receive ISO 9002 certification, and that has now been upgraded to ISO 9001-2000. An annual objective of Taicera is to develop a new product in order to diversify product categories and increase production capacity. The company keeps on diversifying the type, size and design of its products offering granite, indoor and outdoor decorative tile. Using modern technology, the company is producing eighteen thousand sq.m of glazed tile a day. In 2005, Taicera decided to invest in a new $20 million project to produce large-sized granite tile for export. In addition, the company has buit a warehouse and installed a new production line making ceramic mosaic tile on a 10-hectare land in My Xuan industrial zone, Ba Ria- Vung Tau province.
During more than ten years of operation in Vietnam, Taicera has tried to increase both output and turnover. In 2004, the company sold more than 5.95 million square meters of ceramic tile and homogenous tile, achieved turnover of VND481.143 billion, reaped an after-tax profit of VND 34.78 billion. In 2005, more than 7.764 million square meters of tile was produced with total revenue of VND 629.637 billion, earning an after-tax profit of VND 58.654 billion. In the half of 2006, approximately 3.716 million square meters of tile valued at VND291.928 billion manufactured, posted an after-tax profit of VND 29.757 billion. General Director Chen said that Taicera plans to list its shares on the stock exchange of Vietnam in December this year in order to raise its charter capital to more than VND 300 billion from the current VND 250 billion, to expand business operations, promote the company’s image and popularize its trademark. According to the plan, 3,900,600 shares will be auctioned to the public with the floor price of VND 25,000 and other 1,099,400 shares will be sold to its strategic partners and employees.
Taicera hopes that its shares will be one of the most attractive shares on the stock exchange of Vietnam.
