(ĐN)- Until the end of 2005, Industrial zone infrastructure development companies invested more than US$200 million to construct projects: line of communication, power- water and telecommunications systems, waste water treatment plant, internal water drainage system and light system, etc.

Thanks to that, industrial parks could meet the infrastructure requirements of investors inside and outside of the country. Dong Nai has 17 IPs that have been approved by the Government, of which Bien Hoa 1, Bien Hoa 2, Loteco, Tam Phuoc Go Dau and Dinh Quan have been fully leased. Presently, total leased area of Dong Nai’s IPs is 2.124 hectares, nearly 60% of the land for lease.

Because the investment environment has been improved significantly in the past years, Dong Nai’s IPs have attracted over 756 investment projects from 30 countries and territories with a total registered capital of US$ 7.5 billion. To date, 514 projects have come into operation with a total registered investment of over US$ 6.12 billion; 60 projects are being built with total registered capital of US$260 million and 182 other projects have registered capital of US$1.12 billion. The total realized investment capital reached  US$4.1 billion, accounted for 54% of total registered capital. Noteworthy projects include that of the Hung Nghiep Formosa Company Limited (capitalized at US$482 million, Hualon Co. (US$477.1 million), Vedan Co.(US$387 million), Fujitsu Vietnam Co. (US$198.8 million), CP.Vietnam Livestock Co. (US$125 million), Cargill Vietnam Co. (US$80 million), etc.

From 2001-2005, IPs in Dong Nai have attracted 385 new projects; the province has also allowed 388 other projects to increase their registered capital by US$3.12 billion. The total turnover of goods of the enterprises that located in the IPs amount to many billions of dollars annually. Export turnover increased from US$1 billion in 2001 to US$2.1 billion in 2005, contributed to state budget US$101 million in 2001 and US$179 million in 2005. In the past 5 years, Dong Nai’s IPs have created jobs for 135,000 labourers. And nobody can deny that IPs have played an important role in economic development of Dong Nai in the past time.

In the next five years, 2006-2010, the province will continue to develop IPs. Accordingly, there will be total of 34 IZs with total area of 11,726 hectares in Dong Nai until 2010. Dong Nai’s IPs will strive to attract around US$3.2 billion of investment capital in five years, create jobs for about 150,000 labourers and contribute to state budget US$180 million per year. The province will give priority to high technology projects and projects do not cause environment pollution. IPs have to build waste water treatment plants, ensure the implementation of the Law on Environment Protection. Besides, the province is also going to encourage and create conditions so that the enterprises can build multi-storeyed apartment blocks for workers in the province’s industrial parks.
