Phuoc Khanh Bridge connecting Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh Cities nears completion at 96%

As of September 12, the contractor reports that construction of Phuoc Khanh Bridge, a component of the Ben Luc–Long Thanh Expressway, has reached 96% of the contract value. Machinery and personnel are being mobilized to complete the contract package in September 2026.

Phan Van Quan, Project Director of the J3-1 contract package for the construction of Phuoc Khanh Bridge and Deputy Director of North Central South Infrastructure Construction Joint Stock Company, said that in the final stage, the contractor is concentrating personnel and equipment on completing the remaining work on the main bridge and approach bridges, including expansion joints, lighting systems, and the bridge deck. The entire contract package is scheduled for completion by September 2026.

The investor, Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC), is continuously urging contractors to allocate personnel in line with the requirements of each work item and organize continuous construction to accelerate progress and complete the project.

Phuoc Khanh Bridge is part of the J3-1 contract package, covering the section from Km 29+264 to Km 32+450. It is one of the key components and one of the final two contract packages of the Ben Luc–Long Thanh Expressway Project. The bridge is designed to be 3.1 km long, with a vertical clearance of 55 m and a total investment of more than VND 3.5 trillion. The bridge connects Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai City.

The Ben Luc–Long Thanh Expressway Project spans nearly 58 km, with nearly 29 km passing through Dong Nai City. The project is designed with four lanes for motor vehicles and two emergency stopping lanes, with a design speed of 100 km/h, meeting Type A expressway standards. To date, overall progress on the project has reached 99.3%. The remaining work is concentrated in the J3-1 contract package, covering Phuoc Khanh Bridge, and the XL-NG51 contract package, involving the construction of the National Route 51 interchange.

Once completed and fully operational, the Ben Luc–Long Thanh Expressway will provide seamless connectivity with the Ho Chi Minh City–Trung Luong Expressway, the Bien Hoa–Vung Tau Expressway, and Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 3. The expressway will create a new connection between the Southwestern region, Ho Chi Minh City, and the Southeastern region, while also helping to shorten travel time to Long Thanh International Airport and increasing connectivity among major regional transport hubs.
