Beyond setting exemplary standards in working, studying, and raising children, these outstanding cultural families actively participate in local community movements, becoming an important foundation for building well-rounded citizens in Dong Nai.

Exemplary families

At Residential Group 12, Phu An Quarter (Binh Long ward), the family of Duong Thanh Tuan (born in 1986) and Ho Ngoc Linh (born in 1991) has long been recognized as an exemplary cultural family. Although both work as hairdressers and are busy making a living, they always arrange time to accompany and care for their two children: Duong Kha Han, a student at An Loc A Secondary School, and Duong Hao Thien, a student at An Loc A Primary School. Their mutual understanding and support have kept their home filled with happiness and laughter.

Duong Thanh Tuan shared that the secret to maintaining a happy family does not lie in grand gestures but begins with care, sharing, and listening among family members.

“My wife and I always strive to balance work and family life. No matter how busy we are, we make time to talk with our children and teach them to love and respect others. Being recognized as an outstanding cultural family is both a joy and a motivation for us to continue preserving our happy home”, Tuan said.

The family of Dang Thi Huong and Nguyen Long Hoa (Dau Giay ward) has also been recognized as an outstanding cultural family for many consecutive years. In addition to maintaining a harmonious and progressive family life, they actively participate in movements and activities launched by the local authorities, considering this a way to spread positive family values throughout the community.

In 2026, Huong’s family was selected as one of nine outstanding families representing Dong Nai at the city-level Family Festival. Representing their locality, they presented a stage performance entitled A Loving Home, portraying common pressures in modern life and illustrating how family members can preserve happiness through empathy, understanding, and mutual support.

Huong shared: “Being selected to participate in the festival is both an honor and a motivation for us to continue upholding the title of an outstanding cultural family. Through our performance, we hope to convey the message that regardless of life's pressures, everyone should learn to control their emotions instead of venting frustration on loved ones. We should love, respect, and listen to one another. I also hope that activities such as the Dong Nai city family Festival will continue so that more families can participate and help spread humane values throughout society”.

Adding a unique cultural dimension to the local community, the family of Tran Thi Huong, who works at the Office of the Party Committee of Da Kia commune, is also recognized as a model family in building a prosperous, progressive, and happy home. At the 2026 Dong Nai City Family Festival, her family presented an impressive performance featuring the traditional costumes of the Stieng ethnic minority. According to Huong, the event was not only an opportunity to introduce the cultural identity of Da Kia commune but also a chance for families to exchange experiences and strengthen their connections.

The 2026 Outstanding Family Festival of Southern Provinces and Cities will take place from July 24 to 26 in Dong Nai City, with the participation of outstanding families from nine provinces and cities. The program will feature various cultural, sporting, and exchange activities, including the Connecting Families - Spreading Happiness Walk, Talented Family Competition, and Colorful Family Fashion Show.

Families in the new era

According to Bui Thi Thuy Cong, Deputy Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Division of Binh Long ward, the locality has consistently paid close attention to family affairs by implementing numerous plans and solutions aimed at building prosperous, progressive, and happy families. Notably, sustainable happy family club models have been maintained and expanded, contributing to creating positive changes in both public awareness and behavior.

“Through these models, many families in Binh Long ward have been equipped with knowledge and skills in communication and conflict resolution. As a result, domestic violence has been reduced, contributing to a healthy living environment and the development of prosperous, happy, equal, and progressive families”, Thuy Cong said.

According to Vu Thanh Ngu, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the family is the foundation for shaping personality, preserving traditional cultural values, and contributing to building a sustainable society. Amid urbanization, digital transformation, and modern lifestyles, family development faces increasing challenges as work pressures, generational gaps, domestic violence, divorce, and child abuse remain complicated issues. Therefore, promoting exemplary cultural family models carries practical significance in nurturing positive values and laying the foundation for building well-rounded citizens of Dong Nai.

Vu Thanh Ngu emphasized: “The 2026 Dong Nai City Family Festival is not only an opportunity for families to exchange experiences in building happy homes but also a means of promoting the traditional values of Vietnamese families in the new era. Every family should continue implementing the Family Code of Conduct based on four core values: respect, equality, love, and sharing. In doing so, they can create a safe, civilized, and happy living family environment”.
