In addition to contributing to ensuring social welfare, the program has fostered solidarity and a sense of community responsibility in joining hands to safeguard national sovereignty and border security.
A wide range of activities for border areas
At the signing ceremony for the program “Accompanying women in border areas” for the 2026-2030 period, Le Thi Thanh Loan, Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Nai City, and Chairwoman of the Dong Nai City Women's Union, said that during the 2021–2025 period, the Women's Unions of Binh Phuoc Province and the former Dong Nai Province had effectively coordinated with local Border Guard forces to implement the program. Following the administrative merger and the operation of the two-tier local government model, this cooperation has continued to be maintained, strengthened, and has achieved many positive results.
Women’s Unions at all levels have mobilized various resources to implement social welfare activities, including livelihood support, legal awareness campaigns, gender equality promotion, and building happy families for women in border areas, while also caring for disadvantaged children living along the border. The Women’s Union chapters have coordinated with Border Guard units both within and outside the city to effectively carry out movements, programs, and models such as the All-People Border Defence Festival, the movement encouraging all citizens to participate in safeguarding national sovereignty and border security, self-management of borderlines and national border markers, and women's participation in maintaining political security and social order in border areas.
According to Senior Colonel Pham Van Dang, Member of the Standing Board of the Military Party Committee, Deputy Political Commissar of the Dong Nai City Military Command, and Political Commissar of the Dong Nai City Border Guard Command, these activities have not only contributed to maintaining border security but also strengthened the close relationship between Border Guard forces and local people.
Through the program, the all-people border defense task has continued to be reinforced while strengthening ties between the Border Guard forces and agencies at all levels, especially Women's Unions. Numerous communication activities have been organized regularly, helping raise awareness among officers, soldiers, union members, women, and local residents about the Party's guidelines, State policies and laws, particularly regulations on protecting national sovereignty and border security.
At the same time, communication campaigns on crime prevention, social evils, and human trafficking, especially the trafficking of women and children across borders, have been intensified, contributing to greater vigilance and responsibility among union members and women in protecting themselves, their families, and participating in maintaining security and order in border areas.
Joining hands to safeguard national sovereignty and border security
Building on the achievements already made, the Dong Nai City Women's Union and the City Border Guard Command have signed a cooperation agreement for the 2026-2030 period.
During the new phase, the program will focus on communication, and advocacy, raising awareness and responsibility of Women's Union members, women, and the community in implementing policies related to national defense and border security. The two sides will also coordinate social welfare activities aimed at improving the material and spiritual well-being of women, children, and residents in border areas while ensuring their safety. They will jointly implement the Digital Literacy for All movement in conjunction with the Women’s Union's emulation movements, campaigns, and two breakthrough initiatives.
According to Senior Colonel Pham Van Dang, in the new period, both organizations will prioritize the implementation of the program Accompanying Digital Transformation in Border Areas. This new initiative aims to help women access digital technologies and apply science and technology to production, business, product promotion, and marketing. It is expected to increase incomes, create sustainable livelihoods, improve the living conditions of women in border areas, strengthen the all-people border defense, contributing to firmly safeguarding national sovereignty and border security in the new situation.
To ensure the success of the 2026-2030 program and contribute to maintaining peace along the nation’s borders, active participation from Women's Unions across the city is essential.
Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Loc Thanh Commune and Chairwoman of the Commune Women’s Union, said her unit would continue maintaining and expanding effective models while strengthening cooperation with Border Guard forces to implement support activities for women in border areas, helping more members develop their livelihoods, build happy families, and jointly protect national sovereignty and border security.
Representing Emulation Cluster No. 5 of the Dong Nai City Women’s Union, Pham Thi Duyen, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thong Nhat Commune and Chairwoman of the Commune Women's Union, said that in addition to livelihood support, the cluster would continue studying and selecting practical activities for implementation in border communes. Priority would be given to social welfare programs, livelihood assistance, and support for disadvantaged women and children.
With close coordination between Women's Unions at all levels and the Border Guard forces, the 2026-2030 program “Accompanying women in border areas” is expected to continue delivering positive results, serving as a strong source of support for women in border areas while contributing to building stable and sustainably developing border regions.
The program “Accompanying women in border areas” for the 2026-2030 period will be implemented in eight border communes of Dong Nai City. By 2030, the program aims to improve the material and spiritual well-being of women and children in border areas while enhancing the activities of Women’s Unions in these localities.
