Dau Giay ward is strongly leveraging its strategic position as a major transport gateway to develop into a dynamic new urban area, a hub for trade, services, and logistics, and one of the key growth drivers of Dong Nai City in its new development phase.

On April 30, 2026, Dau Giay ward was officially established under Resolution No. 237/NQ-UBTVQH16 issued by the National Assembly Standing Committee, coinciding with the establishment of Dong Nai City.

"Golden coordinate" opens breakthrough potential

At the ceremony announcing the formation of Dau Giay ward, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Vo Tan Duc stressed that the 16th National Assembly’s adoption of the resolution on the establishment of Dong Nai City marked a “historic event,” opening a strategic vision for Dong Nai’s development into a city while establishing a new model of local development and governance. The creation of 10 wards, including Dau Giay, represents a concrete step in implementing the plan to build Dong Nai into a modern city, reorganise urban space, enhance governance efficiency, and promote socio-economic development.

According to leaders of Dong Nai City, Dau Giay ward’s most prominent advantage lies in its strategic location. Regarded as the “golden coordinate” of Dong Nai City, the ward sits at the intersection of major national transport routes, directly connecting with Long Thanh International Airport, Ho Chi Minh City, and provinces in the Central Highlands. This strategic position provides Dau Giay with distinctive advantages rarely found in other localities, enabling it to serve as both a transit point and a convergence hub for flows of goods and services while also creating favorable conditions for urban development and the establishment of a center for trade, services, and logistics. These advantages form a solid foundation for Dau Giay to achieve breakthroughs and affirm its role as a new growth driver of Dong Nai City.

Notably, the transition from a commune to a ward is not merely a change in administrative status but also a shift toward an urban governance model requiring stronger governance capacity, stricter discipline, and greater proactivity.

In terms of economic development, the city leadership has directed Dau Giay ward to promote socio-economic growth in parallel with safeguarding national defense and security, with the goal of becoming a center for trade, services, and logistics. Priority will be given to high-value-added sectors, including high technology, supporting industries, logistics, airport services, modern commerce, the digital economy, and innovation.

Dau Giay’s advantages also stem from its social foundation and local development tradition. Vo Tan Duc noted that the Party Committee of Dau Giay ward has focused on providing leadership and direction while mobilising the entire political system with a spirit of urgency, seriousness, determination, and high responsibility to ensure both quality and progress. He emphasised that solidarity among officials and Party members, together with the people’s consensus, is a decisive factor, as the process of urbanisation cannot succeed without the support and participation of the local community.

According to Deputy Secretary of the Dong Nai City Party Committee Vo Tan Duc, Dau Giay possesses distinctive advantages rarely found in other localities thanks to its strategic position at the intersection of major national transport routes directly connected to Long Thanh International Airport. He stressed that the transition to an urban governance model is not only an institutional step but also an important turning point for Dau Giay to achieve breakthroughs, fully tap into its potential, and affirm its role as a new growth driver of Dong Nai City in the coming development phase.

Key tasks

Speaking at the ceremony announcing the establishment of Dau Giay ward, Secretary of the ward Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Council of Dau Giay ward Cao Tien Sy affirmed that the ward Party Committee has received and will implement the orientations of the city leadership and will promptly translate them into concrete action programs. These orientations will be integrated into leadership and governance across all sectors in order to quickly stabilise the organisational structure, accelerate the implementation of tasks, and fulfil targets set for 2026 and the following years.

The local Party Committee and administration have identified the immediate priority of ensuring the smooth and effective operation of the government apparatus while promoting a streamlined, effective, and efficient model and promptly implementing urban administration’s tasks with the highest level of determination. Key breakthrough areas identified by the administration include administrative reform, the development of modern infrastructure, the building of high-quality human resources, the promotion of industry, agriculture, and services, the enhancement of competitiveness, and efforts to achieve double-digit economic growth.

Regarding the task of ensuring security and social order, local authorities have identified this as a priority area, given Dau Giay’s high traffic density and the concentration of residential areas, markets, and industrial parks. In recent times, the Dau Giay ward Police have launched intensive campaigns to combat crime and address numerous violations related to social order, thereby contributing to the maintenance of security and stability in the locality.

From this reality, it is evident that Dau Giay ward’s task in the coming period is not only to expand urban space but also to build a safe, orderly, and civilised living environment. Accordingly, the ward Police will continue to maintain round-the-clock duty and combat readiness, and conduct daily patrols while reviewing and managing individuals involved in drug-related activities, crime, and social evils, as well as addressing traffic safety and order hotspots in the area.

To ensure the locality’s sustainable development, leaders of Dau Giay ward have stressed that officials and Party members must uphold strong political steadfastness, demonstrate a pioneering and exemplary spirit, place the people’s interests above all else and first and foremost, and work in a scientific and disciplined manner. They are also required to match words with actions, stay close to practical realities, and actively listen to the thoughts and aspirations of the people.

Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Vo Tan Duc requested that the Party Committee and administration of Dau Giay ward regard organisational stability as the starting point, administrative reform and digital transformation as key breakthroughs, and the private sector and a favorable investment environment as key growth drivers. He also stressed the need to take infrastructure, logistics, trade, and services as spearhead sectors while considering social welfare, security and order as foundation, and the building of a clean and strong political system as a guarantee for sustainable development.

Dau Giay ward is facing a rare opportunity to transform its potential into a strong driver of development. With its strategic location, the political determination of the Party Committee and local administration, and the consensus and support of the people, the ward has favorable conditions to advance more rapidly, systematically, and sustainably on the path toward shaping a future urban area of Dong Nai City. To realise these goals, local authorities and residents must translate opportunities into concrete action programs, turn policies into practical results, and transform aspirations into reality, thereby enabling Dau Giay to truly emerge as a new growth driver and a livable, safe, and civilized urban space.

Dau Giay ward was established on the basis of maintaining the entire natural area and population of Dau Giay commune. Previously, on July 1, 2025, Dau Giay commune was officially formed through the merger of Dau Giay township and the three communes of Bau Ham 2, Hung Loc, and Lo 25 of the former Thong Nhat district. The locality has a total area of 98.8 square kilometers and a population of more than 70,000 people.
