From vision to reality

Dong Nai may have started preparing the conditions to become a centrally governed city more quickly and thoroughly than any other locality. This journey is not merely an administrative upgrade but a comprehensive transformation of the development model.

The province is embracing a chance to rise and become one of the modern, livable urban hubs of the Southern region and the country. However, to make that a reality, resources are required.

Nguyen Van Ut, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, said that developing an ecological, smart city requires significant capital for technical infrastructure, social infrastructure, digital transformation, governance, and environmental protection. The province has planned to auction land funds to generate reinvestment capital, while mobilizing social resources, particularly from the private sector through public-private partnerships, preferential policies, and a transparent investment environment.

For governance, the province is promoting the application of technology to enhance management effectiveness, boost growth, and improve the quality of life for residents. This also provides the foundation for effectively carrying out socio-economic development programs, thereby promoting the urbanization process in a modern and sustainable direction.

With a long-term development orientation, Dong Nai has identified urban areas as a priority sector for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, aiming for a net zero goal by 2050. This orientation helps control major emission sources and improve quality of life through green spaces, clean energy, and modern infrastructure, while also attracting projects that satisfy ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) criteria, creating a foundation for sustainable urban development that is resilient to climate change.

Dong Nai is at a historical turning point with a number of convergent advantages, including the Central Government’s support, a clear strategic vision, vast potential for development, and substantial growth momentum. The core requirement now is steadfastness, consistency in implementation, and the ability for flexible adaptation to new fluctuations. At that point, the goal of becoming a centrally governed city will be an inevitable transition.
