In response to the 2026 Action Month for Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), themed “Innovating management and improving the effectiveness of OSH in the digital era,” enterprises across Dong Nai have rolled out a wide range of practical activities aimed at enhancing workers’ awareness and compliance during their daily work.

Among these activities, the widespread display of banners and slogans has been implemented across production areas, office spaces, and company entrances, serving as constant visual reminders for employees.

Ensuring safe production

As one of the enterprises effectively implementing OSH practices, Tokin Electronics (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. (Long Binh Industrial Park, Long Binh ward) has consistently prioritized the improvement of working conditions, while striving to build a working environment that is not only safe but also friendly and sustainable for employees. The company has simultaneously deployed multiple solutions designed to strengthen OSH awareness and responsibility among both staff and workers. Alongside these measures, regular drills simulating emergency scenarios are conducted, ensuring that employees are capable of responding promptly and appropriately when incidents arise.

According to Phan To Tho Hiep, Trade Union Chairman of Tokin Electronics (Vietnam) Co., Ltd., the enterprise has set a target of 365 days without occupational accidents, placing strong emphasis on strict compliance with legal regulations—particularly those related to labor and OSH. At the same time, the 5S model continues to be effectively maintained, thereby encouraging employees to organize and maintain clean, orderly workplaces. As a routine activity, this practice plays a key role in fostering a professional and safe working environment.

The 2026 OSH Action Month provides an opportunity for enterprises to comprehensively review and reassess their safety practices. Through the implementation of concrete and practical initiatives, the business community in Dong Nai is gradually reinforcing its pioneering role in protecting workers, while moving toward a production model that is closely associated with safety and sustainability.

According to Hiep, following training sessions, company leadership instructs all members of the OSH Committee and safety officers to coordinate regular safety inspections in production workshops. “Thanks to these ongoing efforts, the working environment continues to improve, which in turn contributes to higher productivity and greater operational efficiency. At the same time, this serves as a crucial foundation for sustainable development, while affirming the enterprise’s responsibility toward both employees and the wider community,” Hiep shared.

Currently, many businesses across the province are increasingly viewing the development of a safety culture as an inevitable trend, with OSH identified as its core component. Rather than merely complying with regulations, a growing number of enterprises now encourage workers to actively identify and report potential risks, as well as propose solutions for improvement. Models such as “Safety Teams,” “Safety Corners,” and “Days Without Occupational Accidents” have been implemented effectively, creating a positive ripple effect throughout enterprises.

Nguyen Van Hiep, an occupational safety officer at Green Energy On Energy Joint Stock Company (Tam Phuoc Industrial Park), noted that due to the nature of installing rooftop solar power systems - where the risk of falling is particularly high - the company places special emphasis on training for working at height. In addition to being fully equipped with personal protective equipment, workers are also provided with safety devices such as anchor systems and lifelines to ensure safe operations during installation.

Safety supports sustainable business development

In response to the upcoming OSH Action Month in May, many enterprises across the province have intensified visual communication activities at their factories. Safety banners and slogans are displayed in multiple locations, reminding employees to comply with protective regulations and to be fully aware of their rights related to occupational safety. In addition, safety target boards are installed in parking areas, enabling workers to easily monitor them on a daily basis.

Enterprises have also placed strong emphasis on ensuring adequate provision of protective equipment, conducting regular inspections, and strictly supervising its use. At the same time, the application of technology in OSH management, such as smart monitoring systems, early warning sensors, and risk management software, has enabled businesses to promptly detect potential hazards and take preventive action before incidents occur.

Dinh Van Tinh, Maintenance Manager at TS Molymer Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Long Binh Ward), shared that in the field of electrical component manufacturing, the company consistently prioritizes OSH. Employees are periodically provided with protective equipment and receive annual safety training. In addition, slogans displayed throughout workshops highlight the importance of OSH, while reinforcing both employee compliance and the shared responsibility of employers and workers in preventing occupational accidents and diseases.

In practice, however, occupational risks remain present in many enterprises, particularly in sectors such as manufacturing, construction, and mining. These risks often stem from inadequate adherence to safety procedures, insufficient protective equipment, or a lack of proper training in risk prevention. Furthermore, work pressure and tight deadlines sometimes lead both employers and employees to overlook safety regulations.

Speaking at a recent OSH training conference attended by 200 corporate representatives, Mai Xuan Tuan,  Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs emphasized that occupational safety plays a vital role  - not only in protecting workers’ health and lives but also in enhancing production efficiency and ensuring sustainable development. Accordingly, enterprises must strictly comply with OSH regulations while building working environments that are both safe and employee-friendly, thereby contributing to improved workforce quality and overall performance.

According to Mai Xuan Tuan, ensuring effective occupational safety requires, first and foremost, the establishment of a structured safety management system - from issuing regulations and procedures to monitoring their implementation. The provision of essential personal protective equipment, including helmets, goggles, gloves, and specialized clothing, is considered a minimum requirement. More importantly, safety training must be conducted regularly to help workers clearly recognize risks and respond effectively to hazardous situations.
