Kampong Thom Province, known as the “cashew capital” of Cambodia, has the largest cashew cultivation area nationwide with nearly 91,000 hectares, along with extensive rubber plantations that attract many Vietnamese enterprises to invest. On this occasion, the working delegation also shared with Cambodian leaders information about Dong Nai’s socio-economic development after implementing the two-tier local government model. Accordingly, Dong Nai currently has an area of more than 12,737 square kilometers with a population of around 4.5 million; GRDP per capita stands at nearly 151 million VND, while budget revenue exceeds 100 trillion VND. The transport infrastructure system is increasingly improving with all five modes of transportation, notably the Long Thanh International Airport project, which is expected to come into operation in 2026.
In addition, Dong Nai currently has 58 industrial parks, of which 43 are in operation, attracting investment from 51 countries and territories with total registered capital of more than 43.41 billion USD. The province is always ready to create favorable conditions for foreign enterprises and investors to cooperate and develop.
Recently, the 14th Party Central Committee approved the policy of establishing Dong Nai as a centrally governed city, opening a strategic turning point and affirming the province’s increasingly important position in the national urban system.
Speaking at the working sessions, leaders of Dong Nai province expressed confidence that the localities will continue promoting achieved results and effectively implement cooperation agreements, contributing to the successful realization of high-level agreements and the joint statement at the 13th Conference on Cooperation and Development of Vietnam-Cambodia Border Provinces.
The visit not only demonstrates the close ties and solidarity among localities but also contributes to fostering the increasingly sustainable Vietnam-Cambodia friendship for the benefit of the people of both countries and for peace, stability, and cooperation in the region.
On the occasion of the working trip, the delegation also visited and encouraged officers and soldiers of Team K72 of Dong Nai Province, who are performing their duties in Kampong Thom Province. Provincial leaders acknowledged and praised the responsibility and efforts of the international task force in overcoming difficulties and contributing to the search and repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who sacrificed in Cambodia. At the same time, they encouraged officers and soldiers to continue upholding tradition and successfully fulfill their assigned duties, contributing to fostering the friendship between the two nations.
