Review of telecommunications infrastructure development in industrial zones

On March 17, Nguyen Minh Quang, Deputy Director of the Dong Nai Department of Science and Technology, chaired a meeting with the Dong Nai Economic and Industrial Zones Authority (DEIZA) and telecommunications enterprises in the province to address difficulties and obstacles in deploying base transceiver stations (BTSs) in industrial parks and clusters. According to the Dong Nai Department of Science and Technology, the province currently has more than 7,200 BTSs, including nearly 1,900 5G BTSs. Industrial zones and clusters are identified as priority areas for 5G deployment to support smart factories, automated production, and Internet of Things (IoT) applications in manufacturing.

At the meeting, representatives of relevant units and telecommunications enterprises shared and discussed existing obstacles in deploying BTSs in industrial zones and proposed solutions for developing BTSs, especially 5G BTSs, in a manner that is appropriate and in compliance with regulations.

In his concluding remarks, Nguyen Minh Quang, Deputy Director of the Dong Nai Department of Science and Technology, assigned the Digital Transformation Division (Department of Science and Technology) to take the lead and coordinate with telecommunications enterprises and relevant units to review and conduct field surveys in order to propose appropriate solutions to remove obstacles in deploying telecommunications infrastructure in existing industrial zones. For new industrial zones, the leader of the Department of Science and Technology requested that relevant units pay attention to integrating telecommunications infrastructure development in a synchronized manner, in accordance with regulations and in line with planning.
