Promoting people’s right to mastery in nationwide election festival

In the political system of every country, election is a particularly important event, demonstrating the people’s right to mastery and forming the foundation of a democratic regime. In Vietnam, selecting worthy representatives to the highest state power body - the National Assembly - is not merely a political activity but also considered a “festival of the entire people”.

Through their ballots, each voter directly participates in the process of building the state apparatus and contributes to deciding important issues of the country.

A fundamental right of citizens

First of all, it must be affirmed that the right to vote and to stand for election is one of the fundamental rights of citizens guaranteed by Vietnamese law. In the country’s legal system, especially in the 2013 Constitution of Vietnam, this right is clearly and specifically recognized. Accordingly, all Vietnamese citizens aged 18 and above have the right to vote, and citizens aged 21 and above have the right to stand for election to the National Assembly of Vietnam and People’s Councils at all levels. This reflects the democratic nature of the State, where the people are the subject of power and directly decide those who represent them in the state apparatus.

Election day is an occasion for each citizen to demonstrate their responsibility to the country, the community and the future development of the nation. When participating in voting, voters exercise not only their rights but also their civic duties, contributing to selecting representatives with the qualities, capacity and prestige needed to represent the will and aspirations of the people. Each ballot may be small but carries great value as it conveys the people’s trust and expectations for the country’s development.

Each election of deputies to the National Assembly of Vietnam is precisely an occasion to affirm the strength of the great national unity bloc. Through their participation in the election, people express their trust in the regime, in the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and in the country’s development path. At the same time, this is also an opportunity to select capable and dedicated representatives, contributing to building an increasingly strong and effective National Assembly.

In practice, elections of National Assembly deputies in Vietnam have always been organized in a democratic, transparent and lawful manner. The election process is carefully prepared, from nomination, consultation and compilation of candidate lists to the organization of voting and vote counting. Each step is conducted transparently to ensure that voters can select the most deserving candidates.

In addition, communication about election is widely implemented to help people clearly understand their rights and obligations while raising public awareness of the importance of this political event. An important factor contributing to promoting the people’s right to mastery in election is the active and responsible participation of voters. The selection of representatives must be based on careful consideration, aiming at the common goal of choosing capable individuals who can truly represent the interests of the people and make positive contributions to the country’s development.

Over many years, elections in Vietnam have always recorded very high voter turnout rates. This demonstrates that the people’s sense of responsibility and political awareness are increasingly enhanced.

Affirming the strength of the great national unity bloc

Whenever election day arrives, a joyful and solemn atmosphere spreads across localities from urban to rural areas, from mountainous regions to islands. People enthusiastically head to the polls to exercise their civic rights. The image of voters respectfully placing ballots into ballot boxes has become a vivid symbol of democracy and the spirit of national unity.

Selecting the right representatives holds great significance for the activities of the National Assembly of Vietnam. As the highest representative body of the people and the highest state power body, the National Assembly is tasked with deciding many important issues of the nation such as building and amending laws, determining socio-economic development policies, supervising the operation of the state apparatus and deciding other important matters related to national interests. Therefore, the quality of elected representatives will directly affect the effectiveness of the National Assembly’s activities as well as the overall development of the country.

In addition to exercising their voting rights, people also need to actively participate in supervising the activities of representatives after they are elected. This is also an important expression of the people’s right to mastery. Through voter meetings, conferences or other forms of feedback, people can express their opinions, recommendations and proposals regarding issues related to social life. This helps representatives better understand voters’ thoughts and aspirations, thereby making appropriate and practical policy decisions.

Furthermore, raising public awareness about the significance of election is also an important task. Agencies, organizations and mass organizations need to strengthen communication and education so that people clearly understand the value of the ballots and their responsibility to the country. When people fully recognize their rights and obligations, they will participate in election more proactively, actively and responsibly. This contributes to strengthening the people’s trust in the political system and reinforcing the unity of the whole society.

In the context of the country’s continuous development and international integration, the role of the National Assembly is becoming increasingly important. Decisions made at the National Assembly not only affect the present but also shape the country’s long-term future. Therefore, promoting the people’s right to mastery in the election of National Assembly deputies carries strategic significance, helping ensure that all major policy decisions reflect the will and interests of the people.

In summary, the election of National Assembly deputies is not only an important political event but also a vivid expression of the people’s right to mastery. Each ballot conveys trust, responsibility and expectations for the country’s future. When every citizen is well aware of the significance of their ballot and actively participates in election, democracy will continue to be strengthened and the country will gain further momentum for sustainable development. Therefore, promoting the people’s right to mastery in the nationwide election festival is an important factor in building a State of the people, by the people and for the people.
