With just over a week left, 4,500 citizens of Dong Nai province will officially begin their military service in units under the Ministry of National Defense, Military Region 7, and Dong Nai province.
This is the first year the handover and reception of recruits have been carried out under the two-level local government model, posing certain challenges. However, the Provincial Military Command – the standing body of the Provincial Military Service Council – has advised provincial leaders to direct localities to act swiftly. Notably, during the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, many localities effectively implemented military rear policies, offering encouragement and helping young men feel secure as they prepare to enlist.
Prioritizing support for recruits facing hardship
Young people selected for enlistment, especially those who volunteered despite coming from unprivileged families, ethnic minority youths, and special cases, have always received attention and care from local authorities, ensuring they feel supported and confident as they fulfill their duty to the Fatherland.

Trang Bom commune has long been known for its strong military rear policies to ensure recruits feel reassured. Formed from the merger of Song Trau, Quang Tien, and Giang Dien communes and Trang Bom town, the Trang Bom commune in 2026 has been assigned to recruit 83 citizens, including 73 for military service and 10 for public security service. The local Military Service Council has tasked members with closely monitoring each recruit’s circumstances to provide timely assistance.
Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Manh Chinh, Commander of the Trang Bom Commune Military Command, said that through review, two young men in particularly difficult circumstances had submitted heartfelt requests to enlist. The unit advised the Military Service Council, the Party Committee, and the Commune People's Committee to mobilize two savings passbooks worth 5 million VND each for them, helping ease their burdens and giving them peace of mind as they prepare to serve the nation.
In addition to these two cases, all 83 recruits received Tet gifts worth 500,000 VND each from Trang Bom commune authorities. From now until troop handover day, commune departments, organizations, and hamlets will continue providing gifts valued between 2.9 and 3.2 million VND per recruit. On the day of handing over recruits, each young man will receive an additional 500,000 VND gift. “Before the 2026 Tet, Trang Bom welcomed home soldiers who had completed their service, supported them with job referrals, vocational training, and Tet gifts, and implemented military rear policies. Seeing this, the young men about to set off for military service feel even more reassured. Thus, 100% of those selected have voluntarily submitted enlistment applications for 2026,” Lieutenant Colonel Chinh said.
Similarly, Tan Tien border commune has actively implemented military rear policies, supporting young men to feel secure before enlistment. Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Ha, Commander of the Tan Tien Commune Military Command, said that in 2026, the commune was assigned to recruit 55 young men (46 for the military and 9 for the public security forces). Among them, one recruit faced extremely difficult circumstance, and three others submitted earnest requests to enlist.
During the recent Tet holiday, the Commune Military Command advised the Party committee, authorities, and the Commune Military Service Council to present Tet gifts worth 500,000 VND each and encourage them to feel secure in enlisting to defend the Fatherland. Specifically, Nong Thanh Binh, a Tay ethnic recruit from Tan Dong hamlet facing difficult circumstances, was recommended for support with a charity house and Tet gifts.
Other young men, such as Dieu Minh Hoang from Hamlet 2 (an S’tiêng ethnic minority member) and Pham Nhat Hao from Hamlet 7—despite coming from families with average to stable economic conditions—also showed strong determination by submitting voluntary enlistment applications. They were given Tet gifts and commended for the pioneering spirit of youth.
In 2026, Long Phuoc commune was assigned to select and call up 44 citizens for military service, including one Party member. The Commune Military Command advised the local Party Committee and authorities to visit, present Tet gifts, and encourage the recruits, with each receiving 1 million VND. On enlistment day, the young men will receive additional gifts to motivate them and help them feel secure as they depart to defend the Fatherland. At present, 100% of the recruits are present in the locality and have submitted voluntary enlistment applications.
Organizing solemn and well-prepared enlistment camp
At a recent meeting reviewing the coordination results for organizing the enlistment camp and the handover‑reception ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Pham Minh Tri, Deputy Commander of the Provincial Military Command and member of the Provincial Military Service Council, stated that 2026 is the first year Dong Nai implements the two‑tier local government model for the handover of recruits. Therefore, organizing a solemn enlistment camp is essential to inspire and encourage young people as they prepare to serve the Fatherland, ensuring that recruitment and handover are conducted in full, in accordance with regulations, with high quality, and meeting all assigned targets. With this significance, the enlistment camp and the handover ceremony must be carefully prepared and tightly organized, forming a vibrant movement known as the "Young Generation Joining the Army Festival."
According to the Provincial Military Service Council, during the 2026 Tet holiday, all commune‑level units visited, presented gifts, and encouraged young men preparing to enlist, while also welcoming home soldiers who had completed their service. Localities paid close attention to understanding each recruit’s circumstances to provide timely support and effectively implement military rear policies, helping young men feel secure in enlisting to defend the Fatherland.
The Provincial Military Command will coordinate with the Provincial Youth Union, Provincial Public Security, and relevant departments and organizations to provide specific guidance for communes and wards to organize the enlistment camp in accordance with Guideline 6567/HD‑CT dated December 27, 2025, issued by the Political Department of Military Region 7. The main activities of the enlistment camp will take place on the afternoon of March 3 and conclude before 9:30 p.m. the same day at 95 commune‑level units.
The Standing Committee of the Provincial Military Service Council has requested all units and localities to make the most thorough preparations to ensure a solemn, joyful, and encouraging atmosphere, helping young men feel confident and motivated as they begin their service to defend the Fatherland.
