In a warm and heartfelt setting, Tam recounted her story of hardship and deprivation that once put her at risk of dropping out of school. Her parents divorced when she was in Grade 3, and a difficult life in a cramped rented room made her childhood more disadvantaged than that of her peers. Determined that education was the only path to overcome her circumstances, she consistently maintained the status of an excellent and outstanding student throughout all 12 years of schooling. In addition to her academic achievements, Tam has been a vibrant presence in Youth Union movements and provincial-level competitions, earning numerous awards.
However, her challenges deepened when her mother, Nguyen Thi Thu Van, suffered severe complications from atopic dermatitis and psoriasis, rendering her unable to work and provide for the family. The burden of daily living expenses, medical costs, and upcoming university admission fees has left Tam physically and emotionally drained as she stands at the threshold of entering the Multimedia Communications program at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, in the upcoming admission season.
Guided by the principle of “leaving no disadvantaged student behind,” partner organizations, sponsors, benefactors, and charitable teams and groups came forward to personally present Thu Tam with meaningful scholarship awards.
“We are proud to have been a long-standing partner of the ‘Wings of Dreams’ program. Each scholarship awarded to disadvantaged yet high-achieving students is a way of placing our trust in a resilient young generation that studies hard, succeeds, and returns to contribute to the development of Dong Nai in the future,” said Le Hai Dang, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Provincial Study Promotion Association.

Joy overflowed as Thu Tam received scholarships totaling over 157 million VND. Of this amount, 17.5 million VND will be used to support her living and study expenses in the second semester. The remaining 140 million VND will be placed in savings to help cover her expenses during her future university studies.
“Every contribution and every scholarship at this moment is like a red brick helping to build my dreams and future. I promise to work even harder so that one day I can succeed and return to support the program, as my most sincere expression of gratitude,” Thu Tam said emotionally.
